UAE Pro League announces January Best Awards nominees

The UAE Pro League has announced the nominees for the Arabian Gulf League Best monthly awards, powered by Etisalat, the official sponsor of the Arabian Gulf League, in the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper and Best Coach categories for the month of January, which aligns with the UAEPL’s strategy of motivating outstanding players and improving fan interaction to further improve the competition.

The shortlist for January’s Best Player award includes Ajman’s Modibo Maïga, Khorfakkan’s Ramon Lopes, Al Wahda’s Lee Myung-Joo, Abdulaziz Haikal of Shabab Al Ahli and Sharjah’s Igor Coronado.

The players were nominated based on their performance and contribution with their teams in January. The Ajman forward helped his side earn their first two wins of the season after netting against Fujairah and Al Dhafra. Meanwhile, Ramon Lopes scored a brace in Khorfakkan’s victory over Al Jazira and put in a good performance in their 2-2 with Al Ain.

Igor Coronado netted a double against Fujairah to maintain Sharjah’s position at the top of the standings. Shabab Al Ahli defender Abdulaziz Haikal sealed his position on the list after helping his side keep clean sheets in two consecutive games and providing an assist against Kalba. Al Wahda’s Lee Myung-Joo became a contender thanks to his goal against Hatta and his impressive performance in midfield.

In the Best Goalkeeper category, Shabab Al Ahli’s Majed Naser, who kept two clean sheets in January, is joined by Adel Al Hosani from Sharjah and Sultan Al Mantheri from Al Wasl, who both put in balanced performances in January.

Shabab Al Ahli coach Mahdi Ali is nominated for the Best Coach award after the team’s impressive and balanced performance in January. He is contending for the award against Al Wasl coach Odair Hellmann who remain undefeated in the past period and Ajman’s Ayman Al Ramadi who guided the Oranges to two valuable wins in January.

Voting for the three categories has opened on Sunday at noon on the Arabian Gulf League website and continues for 48 hours. After which, winners will be announced through the official UAE PL social media channels and will receive their awards ahead of their respective sides’ matches in the next matchweek of the Arabian Gulf League.
