Soufian Rahimi delivered a match-winning hat-trick as Al Ain edged Khorfakkan 3-2 in a dramatic five-goal encounter in matchweek 18 of the ADNOC Pro League on Friday.
The victory sends Al Ain to the top of the table on 44 points, while Khorfakkan remain ninth with 19 points.
Rahimi opened the scoring after 21 minutes, firing strike into the bottom corner to hand Al Ain an early advantage.
Khorfakkan responded just after the hour mark. Tarik Tissoudali calmly converted from the penalty spot, stroking his effort low into the corner to restore parity.
Al Ain regained the lead in the 70th minute when Rahimi reacted quickest inside the box, applying a clinical close-range finish to complete his brace.
The drama continued four minutes from time as Adama Diallo levelled from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to set up a grandstand finish.
But Rahimi had the final say. In the dying moments, the Moroccan timed his run perfectly to meet Matías Palacios’ cross and guide the ball home, sealing a memorable victory and completing his hat-trick in style.
