Al Wahda snatched a 2-1 win over Al Jazira in Abu Dhabi Derby on Friday at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium in matchweek two of the ADNOC Pro League.
Al Wahda found the breakthrough and snatched the lead after 17 minutes when Ala Zhir towered above Al Jazira's defense to head in Ahmad Noorollah's cross.
Al Jazira were given a golden opportunity to hit the equalizer when they were awarded a penalty kick after Ala Zhir brought Ali Mabkhout down inside the box. The ADNOC Pro League all-time top scorer stroked the ball from the spot, hitting the equalizer.
Six minutes after the hour-mark, Fernando Lucas inadvertently turned Lucas Pimenta's cross into his own net to give Al Wahda the lead against the run of the game. and secure the three points for Pitso Mosimane's men.
