The UAE Pro League has announced the October winners in the Arabian Gulf League monthly awards, powered by Etisalat, the official sponsor of the Arabian Gulf League, in the 24-hour voting that commenced on Friday morning.
Al Wahda star Ismail Matar and Al Dhafra goalkeeper Khalid Al Senani won the Player of the Month and the Goalkeeper of the Month awards, respectively, while Sharjah’s Abdulaziz Al Anberi was named Manager of the Month for October.
Matar beat off competition from four other players namely, Bani Yas’ Brazilian forward Joao Pedro and Argentine midfielder Nicolás Giménez, Shabab Al Ahli’s Uzbek midfielder Aziz Ganiev and Caio Lucas of Sharjah.
Al Senani won this season’s first Goalkeeper of The Month award, after narrowly edging Al Nasr’s Ahmed Shambieh, while Shabab Al Ahli keeper Majed Nasser came third in the vote.
The Manager of The Month award went to Emirati coach Abdulaziz Al Anberi, who guided Sharjah to the top of the standings. Bani Yas manager Daniel Isaila came second, while Al Dhafra’s Aleksandar Veselinovic was third.
Winners will receive their awards ahead of their Arabian Gulf League matchweek five fixtures, commencing tonight.
The nominees had been shortlisted in each category based on data from international sports data company “OPTA”, covering the Arabian Gulf League only.
