Several teams utilise maintaining ball possession as part of their strategy to dominate the game as they deprive the opponent of the ball for as long as possible until a scoring chance appears on the horizon and that's when they can hurt them.
Others prefer to cede control of the ball and optimize the efficiency of their transitions to hit on the counter.
In ADNOC Pro League, the current season saw three teams excel at the possession game; Al Jazira, Shabab Al Ahli and Al Ain.
