Bani Yas fought back to play out a 2-2 draw against Al Jazira in a thrilling encounter at Bani Yas Stadium in gameweek one of the ADIB Cup on Thursday.
The visitors found the breakthrough and opened the scoring in the 26th minute, with Fernando Lucas finding the back of the net after he fired a long-range strike that nestled into the corner of the net.
The momentum was with Al Jazira, and it was no surprise when they doubled their lead when Abdalla Ramadan orchestrated a fine one-two with Oumar Traore, before the latter unleashed a powerful shot into the back of the net.
Eight minutes later, Tauljan Sulemjmanov reduced the deficit for the hosts and made it 1-2 when he met Joao Victor Wesner's low cross with a clinical finish into the bottom corner of the net beating goalkeeper Abdulrahman Alameri.
Bani Yas refused to give up as they kept their pressure to hit the equalizer, and they got what they wanted only two minutes before the break when Gastón Suarez teed up Joao Victor Wesner on the right wing as the latter brilliantly lobbed the ball into the back of the net with a smart finish.
Gameweek two between both clubs will take place on Friday, September 15th.
