Antonio Jose De Carvalho scored from the spot with three minutes left as a gutsy Al Nasr held Shabab Al Ahli to an exciting 1-1 draw in the final match of the ‘Limitless Determination’ Round Ten of the ADNOC Pro League, late on Sunday.
With both teams failing to find the target at the end of a barren first half, it was the young Mehdi Ghayedi who was on target once again with a curling beauty to put Shabab Al Ahli in front in the 63rd minute.
But the Blues stuck to their plan and were rewarded for their persistence when the experienced Sebastian Tagliabue was brought down from a scoring position by goalkeeper Majid Nasser in the 87th minute.
Carvalho’s kick from the penalty spot found the far corner of the goal and Al Nasr escaped with a well-earned 1-1 draw to keep up the pressure on leaders Al Ain (24 points) and Al Wahda (20).
The result changes nothing as far as the standings go as Al Nasr continued in third place on a better goal difference from Shabab Al Ahli and both with an identical 17 points.
