Al Jazira managed to defeat Al Orooba 1-0 at Mohamed Bin Zayed stadium in the early games of ADNOC Pro League’s sixth week.
The hosts went into the game occupying the table’s fourth spot on 10 points, while second-to-last Al Orooba entered the game with boosted morale following their last week’s heroic performance against Al Ain that saw them clinch a draw despite falling 3-0 behind in the first half.
The first half of the game ended goalless as it hasn’t seen many real chances thanks to Al Orooba organized defending as the visiting team counted on counter attacks.
It wasn’t until the 70th minute when Al Jazira found the way to Al Orooba’s net through their historic goal scorer Ali Mabkhout who netted from the penalty spot after being tackled by Al Orooba’s defender.
Al Orooba became the 19th side that Mabkhout has scored against as Al Jazira’s talisman scored against all Pro League’s teams since 2008-2009 season.
Al Jazira boosted their tally to 13 points and are temporarily second while Al Orooba remain in the 13th place with 3 points.
