Al Jazira settled a five-goal thriller after sealing a 3-2 win over Al Dhafra in matchweek 12 of the ADNOC Pro League at Mohammad bin Zayed Stadium on Saturday.
Al Dhafra had taken the lead after 24 minutes when Ali Eid picked up the ball on the right flank and sent a low cross towards the penalty area, where Mohamed Rayhi met with a clinical finish into the roof of the net.
Al Jazira hit the equalizer in the stoppage time of the first half after Ashraf Bencharki ran onto a superb upfield pass from Ali Mabkhout to break the offside trap as he skipped past a defender before drilling the ball into the back of the net from a tight angle.
Four minutes after the hour-mark, Ali Mabkhout turned from a provider to a scorer when he stepped up to curl a superb free-kick into the bottom corner of the net; before hitting his second goal of the night and the third for Al Jazira after converting from the penalty spot in the 92nd minute.
Mohamed Saif Al Ali reduced the deficit in the 94th minute with a sublime strike from outside the box into the bottom corner of the net.
The Pride of Abu Dhabi climbed to the fourth spot with 23 points, while Al Dhafra remained bottom with four points.
