Al Nasr earn valuable 2-0 win over Al Dhafra

Al Nasr returned to winning ways with a valuable 2-0 win over Al Dhafra at Hamdan Bin Zayed Stadium in matchweek 11 of the Arabian Gulf League on Saturday.

Al Dhafra’s first chance of the game fell to Yaseen Bakheet whose powerful shot from inside the penalty area went high, only two minutes into the game. His teammate Mikhail Rosheuvel missed the target eight minutes later.

It was Al Nasr, however, who broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, when Tozé converted a freekick into the back of the net amid a poor performance from Al Dhafra defenders.

Glauber thought he doubled Al Nasr’s lead in the 22nd minute, but his header was ruled out for an offside after reviewing the VAR.

Rosheuvel then missed a chance to score the equaliser in the 33rd minute after his shot from inside the penalty area was blocked by keeper Ahmed Shambih.

On the other side of the pitch, Carvalho came close to doubling Al Nasr’s lead in the 39th minute, when his long-range shot hit the bar.

Rosheuvel then forced Al Nasr keeper into a good save, before Diaa Saba’s effort missed the target on the other side of the pitch.

Al Nasr doubled their lead two minutes from the one-hour mark, when Al Dhafra defender Mohamed Saif Al Ali mistakenly converted a cross into his own goal.

Sebastian Tagliabue almost sealed the win in the 64th minute, but his effort hit the woodwork, as Al Nasr earned a 2-0 win.

Al Nasr now have 23 points, while Dhafra remain frozen on 15 points.
