Igor Jesus netted a hat-trick to hand Shabab Al Ahli a 3-0 win over Hatta at Shabab Al Ahli Stadium in Al Awir in matchweek 4 of the Arabian Gulf League dubbed as “Flag Day Round”.
Shabab Al Ahli took the lead from their first real chance in the game as Igor Jesus connected to a cross from Carlos Eduardo inside the box and the Brazilian forward tapped home with a left-footed effort to hand his side a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute.
The hosts came agonizingly close to netting their second of the night five minutes later, but Igor Jesus’ header off Aziz Ganiev's cross hit the woodwork.
Hatta threatened Shabab Al Ahli’s goal 10 minutes before the break, however, they failed to find the back of the net with Mwape Musonda’s header sailing over the bar.
Shabab Al Ahli were already 3-0 up in the 51st minute after Igor Jesus netted two quick-fire goals. Heldon Ramos crossed the ball to Igor inside the box and the latter slotted home with a deft finish in a manner similar to his first goal.
Only two minutes later, Igor completed his hat-trick. An inch-perfect cross from Aziz Ganiev was met by the Brazilian forward who powered a header past Hatta keeper Ahmed Mahmoud to seal the win for Shabab Al Ahli.
After an error from Majed Naser in the 71st minute, the keeper pulled off a double save to maintain a clean sheet.
Igor Jesus almost netted his fourth of the night in injury time after going one-on-one with the keeper, but his effort went wide. This wrapped up the action in Al Awir, with Shabab Al Ahli claiming all three points with a 3-0 win.
Shabab Al Ahli raised their tally to eight points in fourth place, while Hatta dropped to 13th place with one point only.
