Shabab Al Ahli came from behind to emerge 2-1 winners over the 2021-22 League title holders Al Ain in a thrilling encounter at Rashid Stadium in matchweek eight of the ADNOC Pro League on Saturday.
The visitors wasted no time to open the scoring when Erik Jorgens picked the ball on the right flank of the penalty area as he made a nice move towards the six-yard box amid defensive chaos as Marzooq inadvertently converted the ball into the back of his own net.
Two minutes before the break, Omar Khribin leveled the scoring for Al Shabab Al Ahli when Yuri Cesar's first attempt was denied by the Al Ain goalkeeper before the Syrian forward poked the rebound into the empty net, to make it 1-1.
Azizjon Ganiev gave the lead for Shabab Al Ahli to make it 2-1 in the 74th minute, drilling a 32-yard strike into the bottom-left corner.
The result means Shabab Al Ahli are second with 16 points, while Ain remain seventh with 13 points.
