Fabio Goncalves scored two goals as Al Bataeh and Khorfakkan fought to a thrilling 2-2 draw in a breathless and pulsating ADNOC Pro League encounter, which took place at Dibba Stadium on Thursday.
Five minutes before the break, Al Bataeh went ahead and took the lead when Joao Pedro hammered a low volley past Khorfakkan's goalkeeper Ahmed Hamdan Alhosani.
Just two minutes before the hour-mark, Fabio Goncalves leveled the scoring for Khorfakkan when he orchestrated a fine one-two with M Raphael Guimaraes to open up a space and curled into the back of the net, to make it 1-1.
In the 75th minute, Anatole Bertrand put the hosts ahead after controlling a long ball on his chest and turned smartly to go through on goal before drilling the ball into the back of the net.
Khorfakkan refused to give up as they kept searching for the equalizer, and they got what they wanted when Fabio Goncalves grabbed his brace to rescue a point for his side when he towered above Al Bataeh's defenders to thump a powerful header into the far corner of the net.
The result means that Al Bataeh sit 11th with 16 points, while Khorfakkan are ninth with 20 points.
