Bani Yas maintain perfect start with 5-0 win over Khorfakkan

Bani Yas maintained their perfect start to the season with a 5-0 in over 10-man Khorfakkan at Bani Yas Stadium in matchweek 3 of the Arabian Gulf League on Friday.

The game got off to a fiery start as Bani Yas were already 1-0 up against 10-man Khorfakkan only seven minutes into the game. Kouame Autonne was sent off for a foul inside the box and the home side were awarded a penalty that was converted by Gastón Suárez.

Bani Yas went looking for a second goal with Joao Pedro forcing Khorfakkan keeper into a save in the 11th minute.

The Sky Blues’ pressure paid off as Joao Pedro was awarded a second penalty and Nicoals Gimenez converted from the spot to put his side 2-0 up in the 20th minute.

Joao Pedro got his name on the scoresheet eight minutes later, when he found a cross from Suhail Al Noubi, and netted the ball into the bottom corner of the net to make it 3-0 for Bani Yas.

Only two minutes from halftime, Al Noubi provided his second assist of the night as his inch-perfect cross found John Tibar who headed the ball home, handing Bani Yas a 4-0 lead ahead of the break.

In the 80th minute, Khorfakkan thought they reduced the deficit, however, Omar Juma’s goal was ruled out for an offside after consulting the VAR.

It was Bani Yas, however, who found the back of the net four minutes later, when Ahmed Abunamous curled the ball into the corner of the net to seal a 5-0 win for the home side.

Khorfakkan linger at the bottom of the table with no points after succumbing to their third defeat in a row, while Bani Yas jump to the top of the standings with full 9 points.
