Goals from Isaac Thelin and Eisa Al Maazmi helped Bani Yas secure a 2-0 win over Al Dhafra in matchweek 17 of the ADNOC Pro League at Bani Yas Stadium on Saturday.
It took the hosts just 11 minutes to take the lead when Thelin opened his account after he squeezed in Joao Victor's low cross from the left flank, beating goalkeeper Abdullah Sultan at his near post.
Al Dhafra captain Makhete Diop came close to scoring the equaliser for his side in style when he curled a superb right-footed effort from 20 yards out but it was parried away by the fingertips of flying goalkeeper Fahad Al Dhanhani.
Eisa Al Maazmi added the second goal of the night for Bani Yas when he chested down a cross by Hussain Abbas and rifled it into the right bottom corner to seal the victory in the 79th minute.
The result means Bani Yas sit in ninth place with 22 points while Al Dhafra remain in 12th place with 11 points.
