Al Wahda have rescued a 2-2 late away draw against Al Wasl in matchweek one of the 2022-23 ADNOC Pro League at Zabeel stadium.
Joao Pedro broke the deadlock in the injury time of the first half with a brave diving header from Tahnoon Alzaabi's outswinging cross.
The hosts should have opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of the first half's stoppage time when Gilberto Oliveira met Omar Abdulrahman's cross with a first-time volley from about 30 yards, but his effort went just wide.
Four minutes after the hour-mark, Gilberto Oliveira leveled the scoring after a brilliant one-two between Omar Abdulrahman and Gabriel De Souza ended with the latter sending a low cross to the Brazilian forward, who slotted the ball into the empty net.
Ali Saleh floated in a cross from the left, and Fabio De Lima met it with a superb diving header into the back of the net to put the hosts ahead in the 77th minute.
However, finally, the visitors managed to rescue a draw in the 92nd minute after Ismaeil Matar sent an excellent cross from a corner inside the box, where Joao Pedro towered above Al Wasl defenders to thump his header past Khaled Saif Alsenaani.
