Al Wahda ... Draws Ended their Title Hopes

Al Wahda had a great start to their 2021-22 ADNOC Pro League season as they kicked off their campaign with a 4-0 win over Al Orooba in matchweek 1, but they had five consecutive draws before returning to winning ways with a 4-1 win over Emirates in matchweek 7.

 

 

They suffered just one defeat during the first round of the ADNOC Pro League.

 

 

They ended the first half of the ADNOC Pro League with a 2-1 win over Al Nasr, to achieve their first victory against Al Nasr since 2017 ending the first half in the second spot, six points behind leaders Al Ain and achieving 30 points after securing six wins, six draws, and tasting defeat once.

 

 

 

They completed the double over Al Orooba with a 4-2 win at the beginning of the second half of the league season and managed to pull off five consecutive wins, before suffering their second defeat against Al Ain in matchweek 19 with an unanswered goal.

 

 

 

They managed to keep the title race alive despite being in the second spot trailing Al Ain by seven points till matchweek 23 after playing out a 2-2 draw against Ajman, which gave the chance to Sergiy Rebrov's men to claim the title three matches before the end of the season.

 

 

 

Gregory Dufrennes' men ended their campaign in the ADNOC Pro League in the third spot after achieving 29 points in the second round from nine wins, two draws, and two defeats, taking their tally to 53 points.

 

 

They are the only team among the top-four, who drew eight matches.

 

 

They had the second-best attack in the competition, scoring 51 goals, as well as sharing the second best defense with Sharjah as both teams conceded 25 goals.

 

 

Despite ending their campaign in the third spot, they topped the chart of most headed goals with 14.

 

 

 

They are the only team who managed to find the back of the net from outside the box on 13 occasions.

 

 

Al Wahda duo Omar Khribin and Joao Pedro are among the ADNOC Pro League's top scorers chart with the former coming second with 15 goals, and the latter sitting third with 14 goals.

 

 

Pedro topped the chart of players with most headed goals after scoring a whopping six times with headers.
