Al Wahda come back to secure a convincing 4-1 win over Emirates

Al Wahda secured full points as they beat visiting Emirates 4-1 in the seventh round of ADNOC Pro League.

Emirates surprised everyone with a goal in the 31st minute that seemed against the run of play when Joseph Gnadou launched a rocket from outside the box as the ball was deflected by one of Al Wahda's defenders before settling in the far left corner of the hosts' net.

Al Wahda had a chance to level the score three minutes later when they were awarded a penalty kick that Joao Pedro missed after he had to re-take it as Emirates goalie Ali Saqr rose up to the challenge pulling off a very fine save.

Al Wahda who dominated the game maintaining ball possession at most times finished the first half down by one goal, but that was the calm before the storm as they came back very strong in the second period, and what helped them was the early red card shown to Emirates' Feras Saleh one minute into the second half.

Khalil Ibrahim netted the equalizer for Al Wahda in the 54th minute with a powerful strike from outside the box, before his accurate cross, that found Joao Pedro's header, put the home team ahead in the 61st minute.

In the 77th minute a beautiful pass from Omar Khribin inside Emirates penalty area saw the Portuguese Fabio Martinis go head-to-head with the goalkeeper as he swerved a beautiful shot into the far corner of the net making it 3-1.

With this victory Al Wahda moved up to the sixth place in the standings having piled up 11 points, whereas Emirates remain bottom-of-the-table after conceding their seventh defeat in a row.
