Laba Kodjo netted a brace as Al Ain started their 2021-22 ADNOC Pro League campaign with a 3-1 win over Khorfakkan at Saqr bin Mohammad al Qassimi Stadium.
Caio Canedo came close to handing Al Ain an early lead, but his effort was saved by keeper Ahmed Mahmoud. Al Ain had the upper hand throughout the first half and eventually broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when Bandar AlAhbabi delivered a measured low cross which Kodjo Laba steered home.
An impressive effort from Ismail Al Hammadi saw him dribble past Al Ain defence and level the scoreline only 2 minutes after the restart.
Al Ain were then awarded a penalty in the 72nd minute and Laba converted from the spot to regain the guests' lead. Kouame Autonne got his name on the scoresheet when he headed home two minutes from time to put the win beyond any doubt.
