Al Wasl opened up a nine-point gap at the top of the ADNOC Pro League's table after securing a 4-1 comfortable win over Al Bataeh in matchweek 22 of the ADNOC Pro League on Monday.
Caio Canedo found the breakthrough and put Al Wasl ahead after thirteen minutes when Nicolas Gimenez sent an excellent cross into the six-yard box, where the Brazilian climbed above Al Bataeh's defense and headed the visitors to the opener.
Seven minutes later, Ali Saleh applied a clinical finish from a close range to make it 2-0.
Fabio De Lima struck with Caio Canedo hitting a clever backheel pass to De Lima, who took a couple of touches to find space in the box and chipped the ball past the goalkeeper in the 34th minute.
Four minutes before the break, Mohamed Rashid reduced the margin with a first-time effort from a low cross.
A hammering strike from Nicolas Gimenez smashed the net to make it 4-1 for Al Wasl in the 71st minute.
The result means that Al Wasl sit first with 55 points, while Al Bataeh are 8th with 26 points.
