Al Ain Finish Second with 5-2 Win over Al Bataeh in ADNOC Pro League

Andrii Yarmolenko and Laba Kodjo struck two goals apiece in Al Ain's 5-2 win over Al Bataeh in matchweek 26 of the ADNOC Pro League on Friday.

It took just two minutes for Al Ain to break the deadlock when Andrii Yarmolenko fired a sublime strike past goalkeeper Zayed Ahmed.

Laba Kodjo scored a stunning goal in the 20th minute when he picked up Erik Jorgens' cross inside the box before slotting the ball into the top corner with a smart finish.

The Togolese forward added the third goal of the night with a clinical finish from close range.

Kodjo's brace put him on 28 goals for the 2022-23 season of the ADNOC Pro League.

Lourency Do reduced the deficit for the visitors from the spot when he stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way in the 52nd minute.

Andrii Yarmolenko grabbed his brace when goalkeeper Zayed Ahmed failed to clear Jonatas Santos' low cross as the ball fell to the Ukrainian players, who found it easy to put it into an empty net at the hour-mark.

Nine minutes later, Anatole Bertrand pulled one back and made it 4-2 when he was teed up inside the box by Abdulla Kazim as the Cameroonian striker kept his composure and drilled the ball into the back of the net.

Jonatas Santos sealed the victory and made it 5-2 in the 79th minute with a solo effort, weaving his way through Al Bataeh's defense before firing a side-footed shot into the top corner of the net.

The result means that Al Ain finish second with 54 points, while Al Bataeh are 12th with 21 points.
