Ousmane Camara's goal was the difference for Sharjah in a 1-0 win over his former club Ittihad Kalba in matchweek 14 of the ADNOC Pro League at Ittihad Kalba Stadium on Friday.
Sharjah dominated the possession in the early proceedings but failed to pose a real threat.
The visitors saw a goal ruled out in the 30th minute due to an offside when Otabek Shukurov pounced on a rebound after Ittihad Kalba goalkeeper Jamal Al Sarrah had parried away a powerful shot from Abdalla Ghanim.
Five minutes later, Zackariah Mohammed missed a real goal-scoring opportunity when he failed to tap Peniel Mlapa's cross into the empty net.
Camara broke the deadlock seven minutes after the restart when he met Shaheen Abdulrahman's brilliant pass with a powerful right-footed shot from inside the penalty box.
Sharjah were awarded a penalty kick after Camara was pulled down in the box. However, Bernard's effort from the spot was saved by Al Sarrah's outstretched hands.
Substitute Fahad Sabeel came close to restoring the parity, but his powerful header hit the crossbar.
Sharjah jumped to third place with 26 points, while Ittihad Kalba are now seventh with 18 points.
