Al Maktoum Stadium is set to host a highly-anticipated clash between Al Ain and Sharjah in the 15th edition of the UAE Super Cup game, which will be held on Saturday, February 25th, as the two teams will also be looking to grab the first title in 2023.
The most key stats of Al Ain and Sharjah in the Super Cup are as follows:
• Al Ain take part in the UAE Super Cup for the seventh time. They won a total of three titles and finished runners-up in the other three editions. While Sharjah mark their third appearance in the Super Cup. The King won their first title in their first appearance after beating Shabab Al Ahli on penalties in the 2019- 2020 season.
• The two teams will face off for the first time in the Super Cup, but they have already met on 31 occasions in all competitions during the professional era, with 15 wins for Al Ain and six for Sharjah, while the other ten games ended in draws.
• The 31 matches between the two teams saw a tally of 110 goals scored in the matches, at a rate of 3.5 goals per match. Al Ain scored 66 goals compared to 44 goals for Sharjah.
• Al Ain scored 9 goals and conceded 8 goals during their previous six matches in the Super Cup. They also claimed 2 Super Cup titles on penalties.
• Sharjah did not succeed in finding the back of the net in their two previous Super Cup matches, as they emerged winners on penalties against Shabab Al Ahli in the 2019- 2020 season after a goalless draw, but they lost 1-0 to Shabab Al Ahli in the 2020-2021 season.
• Foreign players scored the last 12 goals for Sharjah against Al Ain in all competitions, with Caio Lucas scoring half of these goals against his former team.
