Defending champions Al Nasr held to 1-1 draw by Fujairah

Fujairah came from behind to play out a 1-1 draw with Al Nasr at Al Maktoum Stadium in the first leg of Arabian Gulf Cup quarter-final, which is held under the name of "Mohammed Bin Rashid", in celebration of the 15th anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as the head of the UAE Government.

The hosts got off to a quick start and were already 1-0 up after two minutes only, when a defensive error saw the ball fall to Toze on the edge of the box and the Portuguese midfielder fired home to break the deadlock.

Fujairah then tried to level the scoreline but were denied by keeper Ahmed Shambih, before a goal from Firas Ben Larbi was ruled out for an offside midway through the first half.

The guests eventually found the back of the net seven minutes after the restart. Firas Ben Larbi exchanged the ball with Kristiano Armenteros who tapped into the empty net to make it 1-1. Armenteros came very close to handing his side the lead three minutes later, but his long-range effort went over the goal.

Both sides failed to score more goals in the remaining minutes of the game, as they played out a 1-1 draw. Both teams will continue hunt for the semi-final spot when they face off in the second leg at Fujairah Stadium on January 25th.
