Al Wasl and Ittihad Kalba played out a 2-2 draw at Zabeel Stadium in matchweek seven of the ADNOC Pro League on Sunday.
Al Wasl wasted no time and took an early lead less than five minutes into the game when they were awarded a penalty after Soufiane Bouftini was pulled down inside the box by Ittihad Kalba's defender Igor Rossi, prompting the referee to point to the spot. Al Wasl's forward Fabio De Lima stepped up to take the resulting penalty, powering into the bottom corner of the net.
Ten minutes after the break, the hosts doubled their lead when Ittihad Kalba's defense failed to properly clear the ball, and it fell to Ali Saleh who fired a powerful strike into the top corner of the net, to make it 2-0.
The visitors refused to give up, as Ittihad Kalba got what they wanted in the 58th minute when Alexandru Cicaldau took advantage of the confused Al Wasl defense to curl a right-footed shot into the back of the net, to make it 1-2.
In the 77th minute, Filip Kiss restored parity for Ittihad Kalba, he brilliantly converted from the penalty spot and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
The result means Al Wasl are still at the top of the league table with 18 points, while Ittihad Kalba sit seventh with 11 points.
