Al Nasr defeat Fujairah in five-goal thriller

Al Nasr returned to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Fujairah at Al Maktoum Stadium in matchweek 9 of the Arabian Gulf League on Thursday.

Habib Al Fardan opened the scoring after 14 minutes only when Diaa Saba crossed the ball inside the box, only for Al Fardan to slot home and hand Al Nasr a 1-0 lead.

Two minutes from the half time whistle, the Blues doubled their lead thanks to an impressive effort from Sebastián Tagliabué inside the box, who then passed the ball to Ryan Mendes and the latter slotted home.

As the Blues thought they’d be taking a 2-0 lead into halftime, Fujairah reduced the deficit with a header from Mohamed Mostafa off a freekick just before the break.

Al Nasr needed four minutes only after the restart to extend their lead once more, when Mohammed Ayed headed the ball home off a freekick.

Fujairah refused to give up and reduced the deficit once more when Kristiano Samuel dribbled past Al Nasr defence before slotting the ball past the keeper to make it 3-2.

Fujairah almost snatched a point when they found the back of the net through Muftau Owolabi, but his goal was ruled out after reviewing the VAR.

Al Nasr move to second place temporarily on 20 points, while Fujairah are 12th on four points after suffering their seventh defeat.
