Two goals in each half helped Al Dhafra register a vital 4-1 win against Khorfakkan in matchweek 18 of the ADNOC Pro League at Hamdan bin Zayed Stadium on Saturday.
The hosts did not need much time to open the scoring, which they did just 13 minutes from kick-off when Makhete Diop met Khalid Al Darmaki's cross with a powerful header from six yards into the bottom corner.
In the 27th minute, Al Dhafra doubled their lead when Guilherme sent in an excellent cross from a corner that was nodded on by Moroccan defender Issam El Adoua's header for Lucas Cândido who was perfectly positioned at the far post to head it in for 2-0.
Only seven minutes later, Khorfakkan narrowed the gap when Hamdan Al Baroud planted a powerful header into the back of the net following a well-played free-kick.
On the hour mark, Leonard Amesimeku added the third goal for Al Dhafra with a strong header into the bottom corner of the net following a corner kick for the fourth headed goal of the night.
In the dying embers, Mohammed Al Junaibi sent a perfectly weighted through pass for Guilherme on the edge of the penalty area and the latter took it first-time into the left bottom corner of the net to seal a 4-1 victory for his side.
The win means Al Dhafra move three points clear of the relegation zone, taking their points tally to 14 in 12th place, while Khorfakkan froze at 18 points in the 11th place on the League table.
