Al Jazira came from behind to record a dramatic win against Al Wasl in matchweek 13 of the ADNOC Pro League at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on Tuesday.
Defender Khalifa Al Hammadi handed Al Jazira an early lead just 12 minutes into the game when he pounced on a poor clearance to smack a left-footed shot toward the far post, beating goalkeeper Mohammed Ali.
Only seven minutes before the end of the first half, Uruguayan forward Michel Araujo scored the equalizer for Al Wasl when he diverted a superb pass from Fabio de Lima into the net.
Immediately after the break, Ali Saleh took the advantage of a defensive mistake to fire a right-footed shot into the net, scoring the second goal for Al Wasl.
Minutes later, Al Wasl thought they had added the third goal but it was ruled out as Araujo was in an offside position.
In the 71 minute, Abdoulay Diaby managed to score the equalizer for Al Jazira when Ahmed Al Hashemi's pass found the Malian winger, who slotted home to make it 2-2.
Substitute striker Ahmed Fawzi put Al Jazira in control once again taking advantage of a quick counterattack and unleashed a right-footed powerful shot into the net, securing a dramatic victory for the Pride of Abu Dhabi.
Following their victory, Al Jazira maintained their fifth place in the ADNOC Pro League table with 23 points, level with Shabab Al Ahli and Sharjah.
Al Wasl on the other hand are currently ninth with 17 points from 13 games
