Al Ain played out a 0-0 draw with Ajman at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in matchweek 9 of the Arabian Gulf League on Thursday.
The Boss failed to avenge their recent 1-0 defeat against Ajman in the UAE President’s Cup that saw them get eliminated off the round of 16 on Saturday.
Ali Al Hosani was forced into a fine save in the first 15 minutes as he diverted Bandar Al Ahbabi’s freekick into a corner.
Khalid Al Blooshi then squandered an easy chance to hand his side the lead, as his close-range effort hit the bar in the 23rd minute.
On the other side of the pitch, Isam Shaitit missed a golden chance to break the deadlock as he went one-on-one with keeper Khalid Eisa before sending the ball high.
Al Ain posed threat in the second half through Welson Edwardo but couldn’t find the back of the net as the game ended in a goalless draw.
Al Ain dropped two points to sit in fourth place with 15 points, five behind leaders Sharjah who have a game in hand. On the other hand, Ajman earned their third draw of the season to raise their tally to three points in 13th place.
