Antonio Junior struck an equalizer 12 minutes before full-time to help ten-man Khor Fakkan to snatch a point against Bani Yas in early Seventh Round action of the UAE ADNOC Pro League, on Thursday.
Stung by an early fourth minute strike from Paulo Melo (Paulinho), it was Serbian Sasa Ivkovic who got the equalizer on the half hour mark, and then Gaston Suarez found the far-right corner of Ahmed Mahmoud’s goal in the 32nd minute to give the home team the lead.
The visiting Khor Fakkan were further affected following a straight red card for midfielder Ismail Al Hammadi during first half injury period.
That decision, in a way, had a bearing on the remainder of the match as Bani Yas assumed total control allowing the visitors a few rare counter-attacks.
Khor Fakkan never gave up and it was Antonio Junior replacing Osama Rashid in the 64th minute who found the equalizer to hand the visiting team a crucial point.
The result temporarily moved Khor Fakkan a spot up into eighth place, while Bani Yas continued in tenth with six points.
