Ittihad Kalba hosted Al Wasl in the fifth match-week of ADNOC Pro League in a game that saw both sides share the spoils with a 1-1 draw although the hosts were so close to securing their first full three points of the season.
Ittihad Kalba unexpectedly took the lead in 40th minute through a wonderfully-taken free kick from the striker Ahmed Amir.
In the second half, Al Wasl had the lion’s share of the possession and were putting a lot of pressure on the Kalba defense; however, Ittihad Kalba defended well and seemed to be headed for their first win of the season.
Disappointingly for Kalba, they let their lead slip away after switching off momentarily in defense.
Al Wasl substitutions made all the difference as Haboosh received the ball on the edge of the box and delivered a sublime pass to another substitute Salem Alazizi on the right flank who in turn sent the ball into the box for the onrushing William Pottker to strike it into the net scoring his first goal of the season in the 91st minute, to gift his side a point and take away Kalba's hope to achieve a first victory this season.
