Al Ain Crowned AFC Champions League Winners

Al Ain thrashed Japan's Yokohama 5-1 to claim the AFC Champions League title for the second time in their history.

The hosts trailed 2-1 from the away fixture but two goals from Soufiane Rahimi, a Kaku penalty and Kodjo Laba's late double ensured a 6-3 aggregate victory after Yokohama goalkeeper William Popp saw red just before half-time.


It took 8 minutes from the Emirati club to take the lead
when Soufiane Rahimi exchanged passes brilliantly with Yahia Nader and slotted home.

Al Ain maintained theiir dominance of the game and have been awarded a penalty kick in the 38, as Kaku stroked the ball into the back of the net.

The Japan's side reduced the margin through Yan Matheus five minutes before the break.

Then, in the 11th minute of first-half injury-time, Rahimi raced clear and was felled just outside the visitors’ area by Yokohama goalkeeper William Popp, who was given a straight red.

Six minutes after the hour-mark, Rahimi drilled a low finish inside the near post to make it 3-1.

In the stoppage-time, substitute Laba Kodjo bagged a brace to make it 5-1.

First, the Togo striker pounced on a huge mistake from goalkeeper Fuma Shirasaka to slot into the empty night.

Five minutes into the injury time, Kodjo poked home Matias Palacios's low cross to make it 5-1.
