Al Dhafra, Emirates Share Spoils in an ADNOC Pro League Relegation Six-Pointer

Relegation battlers Al Dhafra and Emirates played out a goalless draw at Hamdan bin Zayed Stadium in Matchweek 16 of the ADNOC Pro League on Saturday.

The game started with the hosts pressing for an early goal as Brazilian midfielder Lucas Candido came close to opening the scoring when he picked up the ball on the edge of the penalty area, but his effort went inches wide from Suhail Ibrahim's goal.

Just four minutes before the teams headed to the dressing rooms, the visitors got their first goal-scoring chance, when Edarlyn Reyes found unmarked Waleed Sabbar on the edge of the penalty area and the latter cut inside the box and fired a left-footed shot, which went just wide.

Al Dhafra kept searching for a breakthrough in the second half as Khalid Al Darmaki sent a smart pass to Makhete Diop inside the box, but the Senegalese forward could not aim goalward.

Three minutes from the time, Diop missed another real chance when he was sent through on goal, but his shot went straight into the keeper’s arms.

Following the draw, the gap between the two sides remains at five points, with Al Dhafra sitting 12th with 11 points, while Emirates remained rooted to the bottom of the table, adding a sixth point to their tally.
