A 3-0 victory against Al Nasr in the opening day of the 2021-22 ADNOC Pro League set the tone for Ajman’s season as they cruised through a memorable campaign.
Summer signing Firas Ben Larbi marked his debut with a brace against the Dubai-based side, before ending the season with another double against Emirates in matchweek 26.
Goran Tufegdzic's men ended an exceptional league campaign in seventh place with 35 points, winning ten games, losing 11, and drawing in five other encounters, scoring 35 goals and conceding 40.
A bumpy start saw Ajman follow up their opening day win with dropping two points in matchweek 2, before suffering two consecutive defeats in matchweeks 3 and 4.
They returned to winning ways in the next two games with a 2-0 win over Bani Yas, and a 1-0 victory over Sharjah, before dropping points again in matchweeks 7 and 8.
In total, Ajman collected 15 points in the first half of the season from four wins, six defeats, and three draws.
Their situation completely changed after the winter break, avoiding defeat in the first four matchweeks; winning three games and drawing in the other one.
The Oranges suffered a series of defeats in the 18th, 19th and 20th matchweeks, and the team’s performance has significantly varied in the last six rounds to finish the competition in seventh place.
Ajman came second in the chart of teams with the most goals from outside of the box with eight.
They topped the list of teams with the most accurate passes, with a passing accuracy of 53.5%.
In terms of players' stats, Ben Larbi sat sixth in the top scorers’ chart with 12 goals, and ninth in the list of players with the most assists with six.
Goalkeeper Ali Al Hosani ranked fourth in the chart of goalkeepers with the most saves with 60.
