Al Akberi clinches last-gasp win for Al Wasl over Emirates

Al Wasl waited until the 95th to snatch a late 1-0 win over their hosts Emirates in the eighth match-week of ADNOC Pro League.

The game seemed to be headed for a goalless draw after all scoring efforts from both sides went in vain.

However, Al Wasl’s substitute Mohammed Al-Akberi had another say, as his last-minute header gifted his team three precious points.

The second period of the game witnessed a bang for Al Wasl with a penalty being denied then a goal from William Pottker disallowed by VAR.

After the earlier incidents in the first 10 minutes the rest of the game didn’t produce any other real clear cut opportunities and looked like fizzling out to a 0-0 draw.

In the dying minutes of added time Mohammed Salman Al Akberi showed up in the right place at the right time after some good play from William Pottker to give Al Wasl a vital win taking his side’s point tally up to 12 points, whereas Emirates who conceded their eighth defeat in a row remain at the bottom of the table with no points.
