Goals from Michel Araujo, Jefferson Douglas, and Ali Saleh helped Al Wasl secure a 3-0 win over Emirates in Matchweek 21 of the ADNOC Pro League on Saturday.
It took 42 minutes for the deadlock to be broken and the first goal of the night went Al Wasl’s way when Gilberto Oliveira beat Emirates defenders and sent a brilliant cross to Araujo outside the penalty area with the latter curling a left-footed shot into the back of the net.
Only seconds before the two teams headed to dressing rooms for the break, the visitors cemented their lead when Mutau Owolabi teed Jefferson Douglas up on the left-wing as the latter brilliantly cut inside the penalty area and nestled the ball into the back of the net, scoring his first league this season.
In the 78th minute, Saleh converted a penalty to seal all three points for his side, after Oliveira was pulled down inside the box.
Al Wasl are now in sixth place with 29 points, while Emirates remain bottom with just nine points.
