Ali Saleh's second-half goal was the difference for Al Wasl in a 1-0 hard-earned win over Emirates at Zabeel Stadium on Saturday.
It was a cagey first half with few chances created as Al Wasl enjoyed the bulk of possession with 71% and fired just a shot on target out of six efforts, compared to a zero effort from Emirates out of two.
Four minutes after the hour-mark, Al Wasl found the breakthrough and snatched the lead when Ali Saleh fired a strike from inside the box into the bottom corner.
