Shabab Al Ahli and Al Ain shared the spoils after playing out a goalless draw at Rashid Stadium on Monday.
The Dubai-based side failed to maintain their winning run as they dropped a crucial two points in the title race at home.
Meanwhile, Al Ain failed to pull off their first win since matchweek 16, especially on February 13th when they defeated Kalba 3-1 at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.
It was a tight match at Rashid Stadium, where Al Ain dominated big parts of the game and missed several chances to halt Shabab Al Ahli's winning run.
Al Ain posed their first real threat after four minutes when Matias Palacio pounced on a misplaced pass from Bogdan Planic, but his finish was blocked by tonight's hero goalkeeper Hamad Almeqbaali.
Another goalscoring chance was missed after just ten minutes when Laba Kodjo was teed up inside the box, but he squandered the chance bizarrely.
The visitors continued their brilliant display at Rashid Stadium when Abdulkarim Trawri picked up Erik Jorgens' pinpoint cross at the far post, where his effort was went just wide.
Al Ain started the second half strongly as Yahia Nader unleashed a hammering strike, but Almeqbaali was on time as usual just a minute after the break.
Shabab Al Ahli's first real threat came at the hour-mark, when Sardar Azmoum's powerful header was brilliantly parried out by Al Ain's goalkeeper Khalid Eisa.
The two sides tried to seal the victory at the dying moments, but the goalless draw decided the game.
The result means that Shabab Al Ahli remain first with 49 points, while Al Ain are fifth with 30 points.
