Al Wasl, Ittihad Kalba draw in eight-goal thriller

Three goals were scored in injury time as Al Wasl and Ittihad Kalba played out a thrilling 4-4 draw at Zabeel Stadium in matchweek 17 of the Arabian Gulf League.

Al Wasl looked more dangerous in the early stages of the game but lacked a cutting edge in front of goal. On the other side, Ittihad Kalba were more decisive as they netted three first half goals for the first time away from home in the league since 2012.

Ahmed Jshak opened the scoring for the Tigers in the 25th minute, before Peniel Mlapa doubled their lead four minutes later. Romulo dos Santos made it 3-0 with 10 minutes before halftime.

Just before the break, Kalba defender Mohamed Subil netted an own goal in the second minute of injury time, as Al Wasl pulled one back to head into halftime trailing 3-1.

Al Wasl completed their comeback in the second half, when Fabio Lima converted from the spot in the 71st minute, before netting another penalty in the first minute of injury time.

Kalba retook the lead two minutes later, thanks to another goal from Mlapa. As the guests marched closer towards the three points, Lima netted the equalizer in the sixth minute of injury time.

Al Wasl raised their tally to 27 points in eighth place, one spot above Ittihad Kalba who now have 23 points.
