Al Sadd Crowned UAE–Qatar Super Shield Champions After Thrilling Win Over Shabab Al Ahli

Al Sadd were crowned UAE–Qatar Super Shield champions after edging Shabab Al Ahli 3–2 in a thrilling encounter at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

The match wasted no time in delivering excitement. Al Sadd signalled their intent early when Rafa Mujica struck the post with a powerful effort in the second minute.

Shabab Al Ahli responded quickly, as Saeid Ezatolahi tested the Al Sadd defence with a well-directed header in the seventh minute following a set-piece from Federico Cartabia.

Shabab Al Ahli took the lead in the 30th minute through Yuri Cesar, who produced a composed and intelligent finish to put the Emirati side ahead, a goal that capped an entertaining first half.

Al Sadd returned from the break with greater urgency and sustained pressure.

Goalkeeper Hamad Abdullah Almeqbaali initially denied Otávio with an excellent save, but VAR later intervened to award Al Sadd a penalty.

Roberto Firmino converted confidently in the 55th minute to level the score and swing momentum back in Al Sadd’s favour.

The Qatari champions continued to press and were rewarded in the 75th minute when Akram Afif controlled a cross with precision before finishing clinically to make it 2–1.

Shabab Al Ahli showed strong character in response, equalising just three minutes later as Mohammed Almansoori powered home a well-placed header.

As the match moved into stoppage time, tension gripped the stadium.

After Akram Afif missed a late opportunity, Al Sadd found the decisive moment deep into added time.

In the 96th minute, Roberto Firmino struck his second goal of the night, sealing a dramatic victory and handing Al Sadd the Super Shield crown.
