Al Nasr Thrash Qatar 5-1 to Claim Super Cup Title

Al Nasr demolished Qatar SC 5-1 on Friday to clinch the Super Cup trophy in the second edition of the UAE-Qatar Super Cup.

His Excellency Abdulla Naser Al Jneibi, First Vice President of the UAE Football Association and Chairman of the UAE Pro League, crowned Al Nasr with the Super Cup title.

Hani Ballan, CEO of the Qatar Stars, Nasser Abulla Al-Hajri, Chief Marketing Officer at Aspire Zone Foundation, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Club, Abdulla Bin Touq, Chairman of Al Nasr Football Company, and
Ismail Mohamed, Director of Fleet Acquisition and Technical Services at Air Arabia Abu Dhabi also participated in the coronation ceremony.

Al Nasr went ahead after thirteen minutes when Adel Taarabt picked up the ball inside the box and rounded the ball to Moussa Ndiaye, who fired a powerful strike, but it was parried away by goalkeeper Sataa Al Abbasi.

The ball fell to Ali Mabkout, who found it easy to tap the rebound in.

Al Nasr continued their dominance of the game by pressing for cementing their lead.

Ali Mabkhout should have doubled the lead in the 19th minute when he ran onto an upfield pass from Adel Taarabt as he beat two defenders and the goalkeeper to round the ball to Marouan Azarkan, but his shot was blocked by Qatar's defense.

Al Nasr cemented their lead before going to the dressing rooms for a break when Manolo Gabbiadini latched onto a brilliant pass from Adel Taarabt and rifled home another terrific finish from the edge of the area.

Ali Mabkhout made it 3-0 in the 71st minute when Glauber Siqueira Lima teed up Abdoulaye Toure on the left flank as he rounded the ball to Mabkhout, who made no mistake from the six-yard box with a clinical finish.

Three minutes later, Ben Malango reduced the margin for Qatar with a sublime strike from inside the box.

Nine minutes before the time, Abdoulaye Toure added the fourth goal for Al Nasr when he pounced on a misjudgment from Qatar's defense to cut inside the penalty area as his first attempt was saved by the goalkeeper, but he poked the rebound in.

The hosts were awarded a penalty kick in the 88th minute due to a foul on Ahmed Abdalla Mohamad, who successfully converted the ball from the spot to seal the victory.
