Laba Kodjo Inspires Thrilling Comeback Win for Al Ain over Al Jazira

Laba Kodjo scored a late penalty to help Al Ain earn a thrilling 3-2 win over Al Jazira in matchweek 16 of the ADNOC Pro League on Saturday.

Bruno De Oliveira had put Al Jazira ahead in the 24th minute when the Brazilian forward ran onto a superb upfield pass from Milos Kosanovic to break the offside trap as he drilled the ball into the back of the net with a sensational finish.

Abdalla Ramadan cemented the Pride of Abu Dhabi's lead after he met Salim Rashid's low cross with a delightful first-time curling shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Eight minutes before the break, Laba Kodjo reduced the deficit after towering above Al Jazira's defenders to thump a brilliant header into the back of the net.

Ten minutes after the hour-mark, Soufian Rahimi hit the equalizer after firing a sublime strike from outside the box into the bottom corner of the net.

Al Ain were awarded a penalty kick in the stoppage time of the second half as Laba Kodjo stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to secure the three points.

The result means that Al Ain move to fourth place with 31 points, while Al Jazira are sixth with 27 points.
