Emirates Club got their second win of the ADNOC Pro League season, defeating Khorfakkan 2-1 at Emirates Club Stadium in Ras Al Khaimah in matchweek 19 on Friday.
Youngster Lithierry Silva opened the scoring for the hosts in the 27th minute after defender Abdullah El Refaey failed to properly clear the ball and the Brazilian took possession inside the Khorfakkan box and curled it into the top corner.
Goseph Gnado doubled Emirates’ lead three minutes after the restart. The Ivoirian striker rounded the goalkeeper and applied the finish from a narrow angle to make it 2-0.
Douglas Willian halved the deficit for the visitors in the 68th minute, heading in from point blank following a corner kick, but the Brazilian’s strike proved to be merely consolation as Emirates held on for their first victory in the competition since defeating Ajman 1-0 on January 8th.
The result means Emirates reach point number nine, but remain rooted to the bottom of the ADNOC Pro League table, six points adrift of safety, while Khorfakkan freeze at 18 points in 11th place, eight points clear off the drop zone.
