The countdown has begun for a highly anticipated EMAAR Super Cup showdown between Shabab Al Ahli and Sharjah, set to take place at Al Maktoum Stadium on 27 December.
With ambitions running high, both sides enter the final aiming to lift the trophy and add another chapter to their rich histories, in a night eagerly awaited by supporters of both clubs.
Shabab Al Ahli approach the Super Cup carrying a remarkable legacy, as the most frequent participants in the competition with 11 appearances, including the current edition, a record in the professional era.
They are also the most successful club in the tournament’s history, having lifted the trophy seven times. Sharjah, meanwhile, will be making their fifth Super Cup appearance, with two titles already to their name.
This will be the fourth Super Cup meeting between the two sides, making it the most repeated fixture in the history of the competition.
Sharjah claimed victory in the 2019 edition via penalty shootout after a goalless draw, while Shabab Al Ahli responded with wins in 2021 (1–0) and a dominant 6–2 triumph in 2023.
Across their Super Cup campaigns, Shabab Al Ahli have scored 16 goals and conceded eight in ten matches, while Sharjah have netted three goals and conceded seven in their four appearances.
Beyond the Super Cup, the two teams have faced each other 52 times across all competitions in the professional era.
Shabab Al Ahli hold the upper hand with 26 victories, compared to seven wins for Sharjah, while 19 encounters ended in draws. Shabab Al Ahli have scored 88 goals in those meetings, with Sharjah finding the net 58 times.
The upcoming final will also mark the eighth meeting between the two clubs in 2025 across all competitions.
Sharjah are yet to register a win in their seven previous encounters this year, with Shabab Al Ahli winning three matches and four ending level.
In December fixtures specifically, Shabab Al Ahli remain unbeaten against Sharjah in the professional era, recording three wins and four draws.
