Milanič vs.Poya .. A Mastermind Tactical Game

Al Wakrah will play the Challenge Cup game against Al Wahda under the leadership of Swedish coach Poya Asbaghi, who took charge of the Qatari side on January 2nd.

 

 

 


Poya, who was born on July 17th, 1985, has a distinguished career at the coaching level, leading several teams.

 

 

 

He took charge of Swedish Dalkurd between 2016 and 2017, in addition to Gefle IF and the Swedish clubs Gefli and Gothenburg, as he guided the latter to claim the Svenska Cupen title.

 

 

 

He also managed Serbian FK Crvena Zvezda and led them to clinch the Serbian Cup and Serbian SuperLiga trophies.

 

 

Poya was the head coach of the U21 Sweden national team, and he has not suffered any defeat with them.

 

 

He also took charge of Barnsley Club before moving to Qatar to be the head coach of Al Shamal, before moving to Al Rayyan, and finally, he became the manager of Al Wakrah.

 

 

 

The Swedish manager led Al Wakrah in just a game against Al Ahli as he inflected a 3-6 defeat in matchweek 12 of the Qatar Stars League.

 

 

 

On the other hand, Slovenian Darko Milanič took charge of Al Wahda on December 6th, succeeding Norwegian Ronnie Dayla, who was sacked due to the team's bad results.

 

 

Milanič went through a long journey during his coaching career, starting with Primorje, Slovenian women, from 2004 to 2006, then Gorica, Maribor, Sturm Graz, Leed united, and a second term in Maribor, as well as Slovan Bratislava, Pafos FC, and Anorthosis Famagusta.

 

 

 

His career in the UAE started through Bani Yas before leading Al Wahda during the ongoing season.

 

 

 

The Slovenian's best period was at Primorje club, where he guided the Slovenian club to win six Slovenian PrvaLiga titles, three Slovenian Football Cup trophies, and two Slovenian Super Cups, in addition to winning the best manager award in the Slovenian PrvaLiga during 2011-12 season.

 

 

 

Milanič, who was in search of his first title with Al Wahda, led the Emirati club in four games, winning two, losing one, and drawing in another. Al Wahda, under his leadership, scored seven goals and conceded five.
