An 89th-minute header from Aylton Filipe gave Khorfakkan a thrilling 1-0 home victory over Sharjah at Saqr bin Mohammad al Qassimi Stadium in matchweek 17 of the ADNOC Pro League on Friday.
It has been a cagey affair with few chances as the two clubs failed to pose a real threat to the goalkeepers until the Portuguese winger scored the winner for the hosts after towering above Sharjah's defenders to thump a brilliant header into the back of the net.
In the stoppage time, Sharjah came close to finding the equalizer, but the long-range shot fired by Caio Lucas was denied by goalkeeper Adel Alhosani.
The victory means that Khorfakkan jump to the tenth spot with 19 points, while Sharjah are third with 34 points.
