AlAnbari confirms Sharjah readiness for Super Cup

Sharjah coach Abdulaziz AlAnbari expressed his thanks to the UAE Pro League after deciding to hold the Arabian Gulf Super Cup match on January 22nd. “It’s a good timing for both teams highlighted by the “Our Winter is Super” initiative and we hope that both teams put in good performances,” AlAnbari said during the pre-match press conference held in Al Seef district in Dubai.

Regarding the King’s preparations for the upcoming clash, AlAnbari said, “we prepared well for the game and we are fully focused. We are looking forward to playing an enjoyable match.”

AlAnbari said that comparing the Arabian Gulf Super Cup to the league is unrealistic, because the former is a one-off final. Therefore, the league standings don’t matter on this occasion. He added that their opponent has a long experience in the competition.

He added, “the choice of timing is good for the players, especially when compared to the previous edition which was held at the beginning of the season. Back then, both teams didn’t put in good performances and the weather didn’t help. However, the atmosphere seems very positive this year.

“I expect both teams to be cautious in the opening minutes of the game because nobody wants to lose. The Super Cup title is closer because it’s a one-off game, compared to 13 remaining league matches. Both teams are in their best conditions and will fight for the title.”

Salem Sultan: Our target is to win the title

Sharjah defender Salem Sultan confirmed his team’s readiness for the game. He added, “regardless of the coach’s choices for the starting 11, we are all ready for the game and our goal is to claim the title.”

He added, “we are competing in four competitions and our target is to go all the way even in the AFC Champions League. Everything is possible in football; we shouldn’t be adversely affected by any result.”

He concluded, “our clashes against Shabab Al Ahli are always tough. The opponent has impressive players. We hope to put in a good performance and get a positive result.”
