After the conclusion of the first half of the season, all eyes are currently directed towards the Arabian Gulf Super Cup, which represents the first title of 2021. The match will see 2018-19 Arabian Gulf League champions clash with UAE President’s Cup title holders Shabab Al Ahli on Friday, January 22nd, at Al Maktoum Stadium.
The UAE Pro League will hold the match under the slogan “Our Winter is Super” in alignment with the “World’s Coolest Winter” initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
This marks Sharjah’s second Arabian Gulf Super Cup appearance in the professional era. They claimed their first title in their debut participation when they beat Shabab Al Ahli on penalties in the 2019-20 season.
On the other hand, Shabab Al Ahli took part in the competition six times since 2008, and managed to collect four titles in the 2008-09, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons.
