Al Wahda claimed their first victory of the 2026-27 ADNOC Pro League season with a dramatic 2-1 win over Bani Yas at Al Nahyan Stadium on Sunday in the final match of Matchweek 3.
Facundo Daniel gave Al Wahda the lead in the 23rd minute before Youssoufou Niakate equalized for Bani Yas in the 42nd minute. With the match heading towards a draw, Ala Zhir struck in the 89th minute to secure all three points for the hosts.
The victory lifted Al Wahda to three points, while Bani Yas remained without a point after suffering their third consecutive defeat of the season.
Al Wahda controlled proceedings for much of the first half, enjoying 67.9% possession and making their dominance count when Facundo Daniel opened the scoring in the 23rd minute.
Bani Yas responded before the break, with Youssoufou Niakate finding the net in the 42nd minute to restore parity.
Al Wahda also held the attacking advantage in the opening half, registering 12 shots compared to six for Bani Yas.
Both teams made changes after the break in search of a winning goal, but clear-cut chances were limited as the score remained level for most of the second half.
The decisive moment finally arrived in the 89th minute when Ala Zhir found the net to give Al Wahda a 2-1 lead and seal their first victory of the campaign.
Facundo Daniel has now scored four goals against Bani Yas in the ADNOC Pro League, his highest tally against any opponent in the competition.
