Abdulla Idrees scored the decisive spot-kick as Al Jazira defeated Shabab Al Ahli 5-4 on penalties to reach the ADIB Cup's semi-final after a nail-biting second-leg tie finished 2-2 at the venue of Mohammad bin Zayed Stadium on Thursday.

The two clubs had played a 2-2 draw in the first leg.

Oumar Traore had swept Al Jazira into a first-half lead after opening the scoring when Ali Mabkhout conjured up a brilliant assist for the Malian forward, who cut inside the penalty area, before firing the ball into the back of the net.

Nine minutes before the hour-mark, Guilherme Da Silva levelled the scoring for Shabab Al Ahli when he picked up the ball inside the box and skipped past Al Jazira's defense, before beating the goalkeeper with a smart finish into the bottom corner of the net

Refusing to give up, the visitors regrouped for the second goal which arrived 20 minutes later when Guilherme Da Silva picked the ball on the left wing and cut inside the penalty area, and beat Al Jazira's defender before sending a brilliant low-cross to Cheickna Doumbia who found it easy to pass the ball into the back of the net.

In the 91st minute, Al Jazira were awarded a penalty kick as Ashraf Bencharki hit the equalizer when he converted the penalty with a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net.
